Popular Bike and Boat trips now open for 2020

Don't miss the boat on your dream bike and boat trip in Europe

With many of our popular Bike & Boat tours sold out for 2019, we have opened bookings early for 2020 on a select number of tours so you don’t miss the boat in 2020. Travellers who book early have their choice of vessel, cabin type, and departure date, so now is the time to start thinking about your dream 2020 bike & boat trip in Holland, Belgium, France, Italy or on the Danube River.

Why are boat and barge trips so popular?

Bike and boat holidays are one of our most popular types of active trip because they allow travellers to cover more distance and visit places others can’t by using smaller boats that can navigate more narrow and shallow waterways, and by using bikes to delve even deeper into the countryside and villages of your chosen destination in Europe. Meet like-minded people and experience waking up to a new sunrise every morning and seeing a different sunset every day, while only having to unpack once.

When should I book?

The general rule of thumb for bike and boat holidays is to book as early as possible. While it’s hard to pinpoint which tours will book up and when, certain popular trips sell out sooner than others, including the classic Amsterdam to Bruges – Deluxe and Comfort (and reverse itineraries), Danube bike and barge holidays and active boat trips in Provence and the Veneto.

Departures in the heart of European summer tend to book out quicker than in the shoulder season. However, it is worth doing some homework on certain regions. For example, the tulips are on display in Holland between March and May, and June to August is the best time to see lavender fields in Provence.

Explore the highlights of Holland and western Belgium by bike and on board a comfortable barge. Travel from Amsterdam to Bruges, enroute visiting Antwerp and Ghent. Visit a cheese farm and the 19 windmills in Kinderdijk. Cycle with the group and guide or on your own with a set of maps and directions - the choice is yours. In the evenings, relax on board your comfortable barge or explore the towns on foot. Discover Paris, the Marne River Valley and the stunning region of Champagne by bike and barge. Experience the beauty of the Marne River Valley, the lights of Paris and the famous Champagne houses of Epernay from the comfort of a well appointed barge. In the Champagne region, visit small producers, who will be proud to let you taste their best Champagne wines.
