Accommodation

We treat where you sleep as an opportunity. It’s a place where you’ll be warmly greeted as a guest; shown behind closed doors to see how the locals live; and have time to rest up after a rewarding day on the trail. This is why we carefully handpick accommodation that enriches your trip.

There are many different types of accommodation options that will match any budget. Read on for a better understanding of where you'll be resting your head in Europe.

Hotels

Sleep soundly in charming 2, 3 or 4-star hotels that are usually family owned and operated. Embrace their generous hospitality and invaluable local knowledge; and relish having a comfortable base from which to explore.

CHarming hotels

A collection of handpicked accommodation ranging from rural posada’s to modern city hotels, hotels housed in historic buildings to atmospheric inns. Location is one of the key factors, with clean, spacious rooms, helpful staff and a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Generally meals will be taken at the hotel and this is another key factor in the selection process.

GUESTHOUSE / INN / BED & BREAKFAST / HOSTEL

These family-owned accommodations are clean, comfortable, and full of character. They typically blend in with the local scenery and offer a genuine experience that immerses you within the town’s community. The meals served are part of the regional cuisine and are generally cooked with local produce. Best of all, know you’ll enjoy a peaceful nights’ sleep and be fully recharged for a new day of exploring the incredible countryside.

MOUNTAIN REFUGE / GITE HOSTEL / HUT

On alpine trips the accommodation can sometimes reflect the rugged nature of the trail. Common areas for dining and sitting lead to a convivial atmosphere and spirits are always as high as the mountains themselves.

Accommodation is mixed dormitory style in mountain refuges or gite hostels with an option to upgrade to a private double room for two people travelling together (supplement applies, see trip page for details). When staying in dorms, there can be up to 40 people in one room in some refuges but less on most nights (around 10 to 12).

Beds are often bunks but can also be one long platform with separate mattresses or one long continuous mattress. Blankets are provided. Bathrooms and toilets are shared. Whilst the double room option offers the privacy of your sleeping quarters, often the bathrooms will still be shared.

MOUNTAIN REFUGE / GITE HOSTEL / HUT: DOUBLE ROOMS

Please note if you elect the double room option you will stay in different accommodation and therefore follow a slightly different route. The double room option is not available for single travellers. In alpine huts if there is a free bed it will be sold regardless of whether you as an individual have requested a single room. Single travellers should take the dormitory option.
