Many of our adventure travel trips are suitable for mature, younger travellers who lead an active lifestyle. Trips labeled as Family Friendly are not dedicated Family Adventures where you would be joining other families, you and your child would be joining other adults from around the world.
We have over four decades of experience designing safe itineraries to the world’s wildest locations, all of which are led by knowledgeable guides with first aid training. Properly paced treks at altitude for better acclimatisation; only utilising private, well maintained vehicles; trained cooks on treks; comprehensive medical kits on all trips; we take safety seriously for all our travellers. If you think your child is ready for an adventure of a lifetime get in touch to discuss their suitability.
Children as young as 12 with good outdoors experience can join selected trips graded introductory to moderate (grades 1 to 5). Teenagers aged from 14 can join selected moderate to challenging trips and you must be at least 18 to join our challenging trips.
In conjunction with our medical advisor, Dr Ross Anderson, we have developed the following altitude guidelines for younger travellers:
• From 15 to 17 years: the maximum sleeping altitude is 5000m*
• From 12 to 14 years: the maximum sleeping altitude is 4500m
• From 7 to 12 year olds: the maximum sleeping altitude is 3500m
• No one under 7 years old may sleep above 2500m
*We have assessed the latest adolescent at altitude research with Dr Anderson and have amended the maximum sleeping altitude for those aged 14-17 to 5300m for the Khumbu and Annapurna regions of Nepal only, where evacuation options and medical facilities are in abundance.
