Croatia Family Adventure: Tour Review

One of the most popular countries to explore in Europe's east is Croatia, with its beautiful coastline along the Adriatic Sea and Dalmatian coast. This is the setting for fantastic Croatia boat holidays. We spoke with our UK Manager, Gordon Steer, about what he likes so much about Croatia and his favourite trip to a country that is ‘Full of Life’.

What is your favourite UTracks Croatia holiday?

If I have to choose from personal experience, it would be our Croatia Family Adventure. The trip brings a wonderful combination of great weather and some easy cycling for the whole family. We took part in gentle white water rafting, swam off the back of the boat every day and enjoyed exploring these beautiful islands. This trip was simply great fun for all the family, whatever age and whatever level of fitness, and the boats were surprisingly comfortable.

Why is this your favourite Croatia trip?

Great for families. I chose this trip as we were travelling as a family. If I was on my own or with my wife I would have preferred the Croatia Bike and Sail holiday as that trip includes more cycling.
Outdoor activities. This is an active boat holiday and keeps the whole family busy with lots of variation throughout the tour.
Staying on a boat. I love the concept of a moving hotel. There’s no need to pack and unpack every day, but you still get to spend each night in a different port.
The scenery. The islands we visited along the way are stunning, and all different.
Immersive experience. Each evening we moored in a different village or town and one night in Split. I thought to come in by boat, to the core of these places, really is the perfect setting from which to explore the area further.

Who is the Croatia Family Adventure boat holiday suitable for?

Actually people of all ages will find this a fantastic trip. We had kids ranging from 5-17 years old on this holiday and they all equally enjoyed themselves. For parents, it’s a unique concept as well. In the evenings the deck of the boat is great for some drinks and snacks, knowing their children are in the cabins below them. There is something for everyone on this Croatia family adventure.

What feedback have you heard on this holiday?

From other families that were on the tour I heard they thought it to be an awesome trip that satisfies the active family with a wide range of requirements. I’ve even heard comments about the holiday being too short!

Is there a best time to travel to Croatia for this boat-based holiday?

This specific bike and boat tour of Croatia only runs in July and August, making it ideal for European school holidays. For people who are not travelling with children or whose children are used to longer cycling tours, we have several other boat based holidays to Croatia that depart from April until October.
