The Tour de France 2015 route


It’s not just avid cyclists that get excited about the Tour de France. Armchair travellers across the world are also set to have their senses implode as they look past the rolling battle on two wheels to catch a glimpse of some of the most stunning countryside that you’ll ever see in a sporting event. There’s not hiding the fact that major sports events help promote tourism to the host country. If you thought about heading to Rio after the World Cup or to London after the Olympics, you may begin to understand what we mean. So, to help those that find their feet getting itchy while watching this year’s Tour de France here’s a little guide of which of our trips you can join that travel to, near  - or near enough - to the various regions of France showcased during each stage. 2015 Tour de France route map2015 Tour de France route map   Stage 2: Zelande - Put this in the ‘near enough’ column as our Amsterdam to Bruges trips travel by barge along the Zelande waterway Stage 6: Dieppe -  Get there on our Paris to London by Bike Stage 6: Le Havre - Across the water, about 5km as the crow flies, is Honfleur, a must see city on our Cycle Normandy. Stage 7: Fougeres - Discover it on our Brittany Cycle. Stage 10: Navarrenx - Pedal through it yourself on our Way of St James by Bike. Stage 11: Col du Tourmalet - Tackle one of the most famous passes in the Tour de France, which features every year, yourself on our Haute Pyrenees Alpine Walk. Stage 13: Canal du Midi – this year’s tour crosses the Can du Midi. You can ride along it on Canal du Midi by Bike. Stage 17: Hills of Provence: get out of the saddle and try a walk here on our Best of Provence or Walking in Haute Provence trips.
