Summer swings into action in Europe

With travellers from around the globe, we are happy to share that our trips are now operational for many in the Northern Hemisphere. And while we can’t join them just yet, it's interesting to hear the current status of different nations, and provide perspectives from travellers currently exploring Europe.

USA

The European Union has recommended that all 27 of its member states allow free travel to citizens of the United States from July 1. This means mandatory quarantines will no longer happen (although individual countries can still impose restrictions if they desire). Countries who have already welcomed this open travel scheme are Italy, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Greece, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark and Poland. Sounds like it's time to book a trip!

Canada

Canadian travellers are now welcome in some destinations in Europe, however the Canadian government is still advising against international travel. Travelling the other way, from July 5, Canada is easing its quarantine restrictions on travellers. Eligible travellers to Canada can enter the country without having to self-isolate for 14 days, taking a test on day eight, or having to stay in a quarantine hotel upon arrival, if they are fully immunised against COVID-19.

United Kingdom

British travellers are currently enjoying local travel while they eagerly await a review of the traffic light system that their government has in place. Hopefully European nations get added as a 'green light' destination.

All the hotels we stayed in were clean andthe service excellent. The breakfasts were a very high standard, satisfying both my husband's taste and mine (which are very different), there was only one place where I couldn't get what I consider a healthy breakfast. I asked about a local laundrymat at one B&B and the response was an offer to put our dirty walking clothes through their own washing machine, which was greatly appreciated. Europe

The "EU Digital COVID Certificate" is due to officially launch on 1 July. The certificate will enable EU travellers to have unrestricted movement throughout the continent without entry bans, quarantine obligation, and testing. “When travelling, every Certificate holder will have the same rights as citizens of the visited Member State who have been vaccinated, tested or recovered,” the EU Commission had explained presenting the certificate.

Australia & New Zealand

The governments of Australia and New Zealand have ruled out international travel until 2022. Fortunately, there is a Trans Tasman bubble, meaning that Aussies and Kiwis are free to cross the ditch for travel (unless regional restrictions apply) and New Zealanders are also allowed to fly to the Cook Islands. Furthermore, there are plenty of fantastic trails to explore in Australia and New Zealand.
