Boarding will begin at 4:00pm and the boat will depart at approximately 6:30pm for the first cruise. Located at the junction of three rivers, the Danube, Inn and Ilz, Passau has a number of interesting sites including the Fortress “Veste Oberhaus” built in 1219 where there is an observation tower for a good view of the town and the river and St. Stevens Cathedral with the world’s largest church organ. Cruise during the night through the Danube Valley.

Meals:  D

This morning you will receive your bicycles from in front of the boat. Generally we provide bikes with 21 gears, or 7 speed on request. Today's bike tour takes you directly along the banks of the Danube, where you will have enough time to enjoy the landscape as you cycle. Explore the pristine countryside of the Upper Danube valley on the former towpath as it runs past sleepy villages. Small, rustic inns at the edge of the trail invite you to linger, the aroma of fresh fish grilled according to tradition on a stick wafts through the air. The Schlögener Blick observation point offers a truly stunning view of the Schlögener Schlinge where the Danube carves its way through a gorge and doubles back on itself.

Meals:  B,L,D

Continue an easy cycle along the banks of the Danube to reach the Upper Austrian capital of Linz. Discover the European Capital of Culture 2009 on a bright yellow miniature train (optional). The cathedral is the largest in Austria, the Pöstlingbergbahn is the steepest adhesion railway in the world. At the ARS Electronica Museum you can try out some of the most impressive examples of modern technology. Alternatively relax and enjoy the charms of this atmospheric town.

Meals:  B,L,D

The cycle today takes you directly along the banks of the Danube, where you will have enough time to enjoy the landscape as you cycle. You can visit the medieval village and former concentration camp at Mauthausen before setting off by bike. Further along, the Celtic village of Metterkirchen will give you an insight into the past. There is an alternate route, which takes you via Clam Castle and through the beautiful back country of the Strudengau. This option is slightly hilly but has fantastic scenery. Grein is the destination for today, and is home to Austria's oldest city theatre and a mighty castle. The boat will cruise overnight, and arrive in Devin the following morning with its impressive castle ruins atop the hill.

Meals:  B,L,D

Today you will arrive in Vienna and you will then be free to explore the beautiful city awaiting you outside the boat. We will provide you with information to plan your sightseeing. You can discover this city of vitality during a sight-seeing tour by bus or use the metro system to plan your visit. The most famous places of interest like Prater, St. Stephens Cathedral and the Hofburg are worth visiting. The gorgeous boulevard “Ringstraße” with Burgtheater, State Opera House and town hall reminds one of the past. There is enough time in the afternoon to stroll or visit one of the famous Viennese coffee bars. Evening options include a Waltz and classical operetta music in Sisi's summer residence or a glass of wine at a Viennese wine tavern or at the Imperial Palace.

Meals:  B,L,D

Today, the prettiest section of the trip, you pedal through the renowned Wachau, with its truly romantic scenery of vineyards and quaint villages. A powerful ruin looms above the small Baroque town of Durnstein, worth a short visit, while the blue spire of the monastery church is a landmark of the Wachau Valley. In Weißenkirchen you will find comfy wine taverns right along the bike path where there is the possibility for wine tasting (optional, pay locally).

Meals:  B,L,D

Enjoy this last stage of your cycling holiday passing through the vast scenery along the Danube with its rustic wine-growing villages set amongst the vineyards. In Spitz, situated on the “1000-Eimer Berg”, take the ferry to the sleepy southern bank of the river and after a leisurely ride reach the imposing Benedictine Abbey of Melk, one of the loveliest Baroque ensembles in Europe. Having passed the town of Pöchlarn, which featured in the Nibelungen saga, settle down to enjoy the stunning views of the rugged and romantic Nibelungengau.

Meals:  B,L,D

Check-out from the cabins is by 9:00am. During breakfast our boat continues to Passau with estimated arrival time 9:30-10:00am and disembarkation at approximately 10:00-10:30am. We suggest you don't plan to leave Passau until 11:00am at the earliest.
