A bike and barge tour is a fantastic way to explore the iconic Danube River. One of the most popular routes is to start from Passau in Germany, and then continue downstream through Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. Along the way, you'll stop at some of the most lively and beautiful cities in Europe, which include Vienna, Bratislava and the amazing Budapest.

You will also get the chance to try some tasty local delicacies, including the wiener schnitzel (pan fried veal) in Vienna, and Borovička, an alcoholic beverage lined with juniper berries, from Slovakia. You will also see the Visegrad (castle), the Danube Bend, Esztergom (Hungary's largest church) and many more iconic landmarks.

About the Danube River

The Danube River is Europe's 2nd longest river and takes you through 10 different countries (Germany, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine).

The river runs for 2850km and takes you all the way to the black sea. It is lined with some amazing scenery which includes numerous villages, major cities, forests, flowered-filled meadows, breathtaking mountains and medieval castles.

How to explore the Danube River

UTracks offers three different bike and boat trips along the Danube River, ranging from 8 to 15 days.

All three trips include accommodation on board a comfortable boat, breakfast, packed lunch and dinner. The 15-day trip is the most popular as you will get to explore Serbia as well.
