The South West Coast Path is one of England's most beloved walking trails. This is partly due to the sheer beauty of the coastal route that passes charming towns on the English seaside, and partly due to Raynor Winn's famous book, 'The Salt Path'.

About The Salt Path Book

'The Salt Path' is Raynor Winn's personal account of walking England's longest National Trail. She did so after two life-shattering incidents occurred: her husband of 32 years had a terminal illness that gave him 2 years left to live, and their home was being taken from them, leaving them homeless.

Raynor and her husband, Moth, walked the 630 miles (1013km) of the South West Coast Path, which they titled 'the Salt Path'. On this journey they discovered a lot about life and themselves, as long distance walks often provide the time for deep self-reflection.

About the South West Coast Path

You can walk the South West Coast Path in England on an unforgettable self-guided walking tour. Rather than walk the complete distance, you can walk more achievable stages with varying itineraries. The most popular sections are from Marazion to Mevagissey or from St Ives to Penzance.

The scenery along the South West Coast Path is spectacular. There are expansive views which highlight an enormous wealth of coastal scenery. From rugged cliffs to sandy beaches, from sleepy coves to marsh, capes and headlands.  The South West Coast region is very much a holiday county with beaches, famous Cornish pasties, pirates, shipwrecks and the roaring sea. It has been voted Britain’s favourite holiday region and for many good reasons.
