From Channel Islands hiking holidays, to active breaks on foot or by bike or on the Isle of Wight, and the recently added destination of the Isle of Man, the British Isles offer fantastic away-from-it-all experiences. 

Known for scenic cliffs and beaches, small towns oozing old world charm, and coastal defences dating from the Palaeolithic period through to WWII, the Channel Islands have been a favourite holiday destination for active travellers from both the UK and far away. The slightly larger Jersey and Guernsey have beautiful coastlines, traditional harbours & lovely beachside settlements to explore and the smaller isles of Sark, Alderney and Herm all have their own unique charm.

The Isle of Man has an interesting history to discover. When walking the island's long distance trail that is called the 'Raad ny Foillan' which translates to 'The Way of the Gull', you will pass cultural heritage towns such as Castletown, Peel, Ramsey & Laxey. There are options to bathe, spot wildlife, enjoy views over to England, Wales, Scotland & Ireland and for lovers of trains there are steam, electric, mountain and horse drawn railways. People have been walking segments of this path for hundreds of years and it was first written about as a walk in as far back as 1874.

Famous for its sailing regattas, for the white chalk cliffs and the stacks called The Needles and for its annual festival, the Isle of Wight may be a bit of a cliché in British tourism, but it exists in its own time. Beyond the big tourist towns and the sophistication of Cowes harbour, everything is on a manageable scale: long chalky downs, sandy beaches and enchanting woodlands. Seaside rock, ice cream and fish ’n’ chips of course, but also great pubs and restaurants, quiet paths, historical churches and gems of villages.
