The Neckar River joins the Rhine at Mannheim and the stretch between Koblenz on the Rhine and Bad Wimpfen on the Neckar is the focus of this engaging journey by bike and barge. This compact region is home to numerous castles, Roman ruins, quaint medieval towns and a rich wine making tradition as evidenced by the terraced vineyards lining the river banks. With a relaxed pace of cycling, there is ample time to explore the cobblestone wine villages and absorb the fascinating history embedded in such towns as Heidelberg with its historic old town and castle ruin, the Dome of Worms and the Hornberg Fortress en route to Bad Wimpfen. Berlin Wall Trail Cycle Tour Video

During the Cold War, the Glienicke Bridge was a restricted border crossing. Connecting Potsdam (formerly in East Germany) with Berlin, it is where secret agents and secret services used to meet. Watch this short but informative video on crossing this bridge on the Berlin Wall Trail Cycle tour.

During the Cold War, the Glienicke Bridge was a restricted border crossing. Connecting Potsdam (formerly in East Germany) with Berlin, it is where secret agents and secret services used to meet. View the Berlin Wall Trail Cycle tour: https://www.utracks.com/Germany/Cycling/Berlin-Wall-Trail-Cycle It became known as the ‘Bridge of Spies’ as prisoner exchanges took place here between the East & West. What was once a complicated crossing can now easily be crossed when cycling the Berlin Wall Trail. About the Berlin Wall Trail Cycle Tour The Berlin Wall, a onetime symbol of division, now provides a peaceful path for cyclists looking to explore one of Germany's most dynamic cities in an entirely different way. This urban cycle adventure will uncover the diversity of Berlin offering a unique insight into the numerous faces of the city, marked by historical adversity yet celebrated in the vibrancy of the landscapes and landmarks which define it. The 160km loop structure that was brought down in 1989 has now given rise to the Wall Trail (Mauerweg) and cycling along the former borderline between East and West Germany is the ideal way to stop and soak in the history of the many checkpoints, that are now sites of interest, as well as other fascinating relics. During this circuit ride from Oranienburg through Berlin and passing by important sites such as the Brandenburg Gate, a symbol of peace, and Checkpoint Charlie, once separating the American-controlled zone of West Berlin from the Soviet-controlled East Berlin. The ride along the former patrol roads takes in forests and grand parks, such as the World Heritage listed parks and palaces of Potsdam, namely the Sanssouci palace complex, where philosopher Voltaire once stayed and the Spandau Forest, on a circuit returning to Oranienburg. At night stay in comfortable hotels chosen for their location and service. See how an electric bike opened up a whole new world of cycling trips for one traveller. Learn more about electric bikes here: https://www.utracks.com/Cycling/Electric-Bikes #ElectricBikes #UTracksTravel #Cycling About Electric Bikes Electric #bikes (or e-bikes) are designed to make cycling easier. Electric bikes are becoming very common in #Europe and many of the cycling #trips in our offering now have an electric #bike option. The pedalling ‘boost’ provided by an #ebike opens up more options, allowing people of different #fitness levels to #cycle together on their holiday or to allow less confident or fit cyclists to take on greater distances or routes that they may otherwise consider too tough for their current capability. In that way, an electric bike makes your tour appealing to everyone in your group. Being battery powered, there is absolutely no motor noise, and a nightly top-up using just the power outlet at your hotel will have you fully charged for the next stage on your e-bike holiday. An e-bike is the ideal way for newcomers to cycling #tours to enjoy the benefits of a handlebar based holiday. With an e-bike, anyone can #explore #Europe their way.
