Corsica is an active traveller's paradise. From high peaks to coastal paths, the diversity packed onto this tiny French island is mind-boggling. View tours: https://www.utracks.com/France/Corsica Corsica is home to the famous GR20, one of the most challenging and famous long distances walking and cycling paths, but it offers many gentler walks as well - some which are ideal for the whole family. Watch the video to get an idea of what it is like to walk on Corsica. About Corsica Rising abruptly from the Mediterranean Sea between France and Italy, Corsica is the largest and most geographically diverse of the Mediterranean Islands. Expect everything from snowcapped peaks, high plains and pretty mountain villages to lush forests, alpine lakes and plunging gorges, all fringed with a jagged coastline of granite pinnacles, historic lookouts and sheer cliff faces, tumbling to white sandy beaches below. This is an outdoor adventure playground like no other! The 200km-long Grand Randonnee 20 (GR20)— considered Europe's most challenging long-distance walking trail—runs almost the full length of Corsica from north to south, exploring the island’s dramatic landscapes, historical sites and rich cultural heritage. With options to walk or cycle different sections of the GR20 and beyond, guided or self-guided, our Corsican adventures are designed to get you deep into the heart of this extraordinary destination. French Way of St James Camino Video

The French Way of St James is often cited as the most beautiful Camino pilgrimage you can undertake. After watching this gorgeous video, you too will agree.

The French Way of St James is considered the most beautiful of all the Camino routes. View the French Way of St James trip: https://www.utracks.com/Camino/French-Way-of-St-James The French Way of St James is considered the most beautiful of all the Camino routes that make their way to the Spanish city of Santiago. This film shows exactly why - and the benefits of doing it on a self guided trip with UTracks. #WayOfStJames #Camino #UTracksTravel About the French Way of St James Camino Of the four main #pilgrimage routes in #France to St Jean Pied de Port, where #pilgrims would connect with the Camino Francés, the Via Podiensis, also known as The Way of #LePuy or more simply, the French Way of #SaintJames, is by far the most popular. Once the word had spread across #Europe that the apostle of St James’ relics had been discovered in Santiago, a pilgrimage to the site became a rite of passage. The journey at times rivalled a #trip to Jerusalem or Rome, and pilgrims from as far as Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Poland and the Czech Republic made their way through France to St Jean Pied de Port. While the earliest recordings of pilgrims on this way dates back to 950AD, the popularity of the Via Podiensis today can be traced back to more recent times when the long distance GR65 #hiking route was created in the 1970s. As more modern day travellers began to seek ways to Santiago, the French Way of St James stood out as the most spectacular, taking in some of the most scenic parts of France. The Via Podiensis begins in Le Puy-en-Velay and travels across the high plateaus of the Massif Central, the volcanic highlands of Velay, through rustic villages, past impressive castles, quaint villages, a myriad of monuments and through the picturesque French countryside. For today’s travellers, the Via Podiensis provides one of the most beautiful of all the ways. Unlike the Camino Francés, it avoids major cities and towns. At 4810m, some underestimate the scale of Mont Blanc and the other 4000m+ peaks in this region of the European #Alps. Whether standing on the valley floor, or crossing a panoramic pass, the magnitude and beauty of this wilderness region will definitely leave an impression on you. Mont Blanc is permanently covered in snow and ice, hence its name. The literal translation for Mont Blanc is ‘White Mountain’. In French, the mountain is often referred to as La Dame blanche ('the White Lady') and in Italian Mont Blanc is often referred to as Il Bianco ('the White One'). The Mont Blanc massif was first climbed in 1786, and the ascent gave birth to modern day mountaineering. It is not only a region for climbers however, walking in Mont Blanc has become so popular that the region is now the third most visited natural site in the world. Anyone who travels here will soon see why. Few will capture the true beauty of the European Alps’ highest peak and surrounding mountains with a fleeting visit to famous towns such as Chamonix. To truly do justice with the picture postcard views of spectacular mountain vistas and #alpine landscapes a walk in the Mont Blanc region is a must. There are a number of trails open to walkers of various fitness levels. Without doubt the most famous Mont Blanc trek is the classic Tour du Mont Blanc, however families and walkers of various abilities can choose a trail to suit their fitness level. About UTracks #UTracks offers a number of treks and walks around sections of Mont Blanc, as well as the full '#Tour du Mont Blanc' circumnavigation. You can walk as part of a guided Mont Blanc #walk or choose to #travel from hut to hut on your own on a Mont Blanc self guided #hike. UTracks have over 450 trips across the active travel spectrum: from relaxed cycling in the Loire Valley, to discovering iconic Camino trails, to challenging hikes around Mont Blanc.
