Electric Bicycle Tour Reviews

View reviews from travellers using e-bikes on cycling tours in Europe

The benefits of using an electric bike are real. It allows riders to keep up with friends and family who have different pedalling abilities, you can cover greater distances and embark on tours that would otherwise be too tough. Plus, being battery powered, all they need is a nightly charge in your hotel room and there is no motor noise either.

But enough from us - read on for e-bike reviews and testimonials from past UTracks Travellers and see how an electric bike can change your active travel approach. Then see all of our cycling tours with electric bike options by clicking here.

See how an electric bike opened up a whole new world of cycling trips for one traveller. Learn more about electric bikes here: About Electric Bikes Electric bikes (or e-bikes) are designed to make cycling easier. Electric bikes are becoming very common in Europe and many of the cycling trips in our offering now have an electric bike option. The pedalling ‘boost’ provided by an e-bike opens up more options, allowing people of different fitness levels to cycle together on their holiday or to allow less confident or fit cyclists to take on greater distances or routes that they may otherwise consider too tough for their current capability. In that way, an electric bike makes your tour appealing to everyone in your group. Being battery powered, there is absolutely no motor noise, and a nightly top-up using just the power outlet at your hotel will have you fully charged for the next stage on your e-bike holiday. An e-bike is the ideal way for newcomers to cycling trips to enjoy the benefits of a handlebar based holiday. With an e-bike, anyone can explore Europe their way. Bordeaux to Toulouse Cycle Tour Review

"A wonderful bike trip! It was our first bike tour and we would definitely do it again. I highly recommend hiring an e-bike, even for a seasoned bike rider. It gives you the freedom to explore nearby towns and take detours off the main route."

Try an electric bike on the Via Rhona, Lyon to Orange stage, in France

Rhone Cycle Path: Haute-Savoi to Lyon Tour Review

"We are a couple in our early 60s and we hugely enjoyed the Rhone cycle path (Seyssels to Lyon, 6 days). With e-bikes, riding 60 km/day is not difficult. There were some challenges e.g., riding through tunnels with car traffic, and big roundabouts with trucks, but with enough caution they can be negotiated even by a novice cyclist like myself, and gives an element of adventure. Most of the time you are on ViaRhona cycle path which is well-sign posted, or country roads, with very pretty scenery. Riding into Lyon and along the riverside cycleway is a very nice introduction to this city. We would be happy to recommend the trip."
