  • Walk coastal and mountain paths with stunning scenery
  • Discover small villages and superb Turkish cuisine
  • Visit the abandoned village of Kayakoy
  • Experience genuine cultural exchange with the local people

Between Fethiye and Antalya along Southern Turkey's Tekke Peninsula, or Lycia as it is historically known, is one of the country's first waymarked trails, the 509km Lycian Way. This mountainous route encompasses spectacular coastal views, archaeological treasures dating back to the 8th Century BCE and interesting villages with their unique Lycian flavour. During a series of day walks it is possible to discover sections of the route with well preserved Greek and Roman cities and a Lycian necropolis lost in vegetation. Traverse rugged mountain trails to meet the gracious local people, sample culinary specialties and swim in the blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

On arrival at Dalaman Airport you will be met and transferred to Kayakoy, originally named “Karmilassos”; described by the UNESCO as a world friendship and peace village. Here you will spend the night in a lovely and charming small hotel/pension. Transfer time: 1 hr; transfer distance: 60 km

Meals:  Nil

In the morning your first trek takes you to the ruins of the old Greek village of Karmilassos, given up at the end of the World War I. Today this timeless place, set in a lush valley surrounded by forests and with some vineyards nearby, is known as a kind of ghost town. You will walk through its empty streets, along its ruined stone houses and can take time to visit one of its churches, whilst enjoying the village’s air of mystery and surreal atmosphere. Afterwards a forest path, with splendid panoramic views to the turquoise water , leads you directly down to Oludeniz lagoon, one of the most photographed beaches on the Mediterranean. The amazing lagoon with its secluded sandy bay is a national nature reserve; famous for its shades of turquoise and aquamarine, Oludeniz is an official blue flag beach and frequently rated among the top five beaches in the world by travellers and tourism journals alike. You can spend the afternoon at the beach, before continuing to your accommodation in Hisaronu/Ovacik village. Your accommodation is 3 km from the beach; you can walk this part along the main road, or take a ‘Dolmush’ (small public village bus), usually departs until 18:00 h every 30 minutes from the beach to Hisaronu/Ovacik village. The village itself is located in the countryside and known as one of the liveliest resorts in the area, famous for its cool breezes and beautiful mountain views. Here you spend the night in a small family run hotel. Walking distance: 6 km/3.7mi; ascent: 193m/633ft; descent: 335m/1099ft;

Meals:  B

After breakfast you will start your walk directly from your overnight accommodation; an asphalt road takes you to the trailhead point of the Lycian way at Ovacik. From the south foot of Babadag Mountain (1.969m) you walk along the coastal side and follow a small path with a beautiful panoramic view over the deep blue bay of Oludeniz. Your walk takes you along sheep camps to some small and authentic villages of the Mediterranean area. Over stabilized gravel roads you pass small Kozagac village and continue your walk to Kirme, where you pick up a small walking path again leading you to beautiful Faralya village, where you spend the night at a nice family run pension. walking distance: 13.2 km/8.2mi; ascent: 556m/1824ft; descent: 573m/1879ft

On small paths you continue your walk whilst enjoying the beautiful views to the coast and bays around. In the early afternoon you will reach Aktas beach where it is possible to take time for lunch and a swim.
