Experience a unique cycle journey from the alpine elegance of St. Moritz to the historic charm of Innsbruck, following the scenic Inn River. Along the way, spend nights in picturesque towns that showcase the beauty and culture of the region. Discover Zernez, nestled at the gateway to the Swiss National Park, before pedalling to Scuol, a charming spa town known for its mineral springs and traditional Engadine architecture. Crossing the border into Austria, the trail offers stunning alpine views, quaint villages, and local flavors at every turn. Designed for leisure cyclists, this journey offers a perfect blend of relaxation, culture and exploration.

On arrival in St Moritz, make your way to your joining hotel. While it may have a reputation for being a glamorous ski resort town, in summer, the town has equal charm with its stunning lakeside setting amidst the majestic Engadine mountains.

The first cycle takes you on a magical loop around the lakes dotted along the Inn River towards the rivers source. Along the way there will be opportunities to stop and take in the views and even have a swim. Overnight St Moritz

Today's ride takes you through the stunning Upper Engadine valley, offering both natural beauty and cultural treasures along the way. You'll pass through Samedan, home to the historic Old Tower, and La Punt, where you can admire the early Gothic San Andrea Church adorned with frescoes. In Zuoz, don't miss the exquisite window paintings in the Church of San Luzi. Reaching Zernez, the gateway to Switzerland's only national park, you can visit the National Park House to learn more about this pristine alpine wilderness. Overnight Zernez

This morning the ride continues to Lavin, a charming village that has retained its authentic mountain character. From there, you'll continue to the picturesque village of Guarda, aptly named after the exclamation “Look!” for its breathtaking panoramic views. The cycle day concludes in Scuol, a vibrant town known for its thermal spa, Bogn Engiadina, offering relaxation and rejuvenation. Overlooking the area is the imposing Castle Tarasp, a majestic landmark and enduring symbol of the Engadine region.

Today's ride takes you from Scuol through Martina to the Austrian border, where your journey continues via Pfunds and Tösens to Ried. Following the tranquil course of the Inn River, you'll pass through the striking Finstermünster Gorge, renowned for its dramatic scenery. Along the way, the charming town centers of Stuben and Pfunds in Tyrol stand out for their unique character and picturesque appeal, making this route a delightful blend of natural beauty and cultural highlights.

A treat today as you cycle through the Oberes Gericht region, descending from Ried via Prutz to Landeck. In Landeck, you can explore fascinating landmarks like the castle with its museum, the ruins of Schrofenstein, and the historic Gerberbrücke—a key site in Tyrolean history. Continuing onward, you’ll pass the serene Zams Monastery and ride through the picturesque Mils Au floodplain, a protected natural area. Your destination is Imst, known as the "City of Fountains" for its abundant springs, as well as its many churches and chapels. Don’t miss the dramatic Rosengartenschlucht gorge, a natural wonder well worth exploring.

A gem of a last day cycling along the scenic Inn Cycle Path through charming villages and cultural gems. A highlight of the route is the Cistercian Monastery of Stams, renowned for its striking collegiate church adorned with intricate rose grids. As you continue, you'll spot numerous historic churches and ruins perched above the Inn Valley, offering glimpses of the region's rich heritage. Cycling past the impressive Martinswand mountain face, you'll arrive in Innsbruck, a city celebrated for its beautifully preserved old town. Be sure to visit iconic landmarks like the Golden Roof, City Tower, Imperial Palace, Hofgarten Park, and the ornate Helblinghaus.

Grading

moderate  

GRADE 3 - 6 cycle stages of between 35 and 65km (22 to 40mi) on sometimes hilly gradients (2-3 moderate climbs, smooth descents). The cycling is on a mixture of dedicated bike paths along the Inn river valley and also along some forest and gravel roads. To get the most out of this trip you should have a good level of fitness which you have obtained through exercising 3-4 times per week as a minimum. If taking an e-bike option, the physical fitness requirement is reduced, however you still need to be an experienced cyclist. E-bikes are heavier than regular bikes.
