Trip highlights

  • Walk alongside Nell Wengert on the last 115km of the Camino de Santiago
  • Incorporating yoga, meditation, breathwork, bodywork and mindfulness into daily Camino walking
  • Staying at friendly, family run hotels and eating at hotels and restaurants with delicious local dishes
  • Experiencing the history of the ancient pilgrimage route
  • Reaching Santiago on foot and experiencing the famous pilgrims mass

This special Camino experience invites you to slow down, reconnect with yourself and create space for stillness, reflection and renewal. Walking the final stages of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Camino Francés, from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela, you’ll follow the historic pilgrim trail through Galicia’s rolling green countryside, autumn woodlands, stone villages and ancient pathways. Each day offers an opportunity to step away from the pace of everyday life and become more present — noticing the landscape, your breath, your body and the experience of simply being on the path.

Along with walking the trail and experiencing te changing landscape, the heart of the journey is yoga and meditation. Escorted by an experienced instructor, the experience will include opportunities for mindful movement, meditation, breathwork and quiet reflection, thoughtfully woven into the days of walking. These practices are designed to complement the Camino, helping you release tension, settle the mind and deepen your connection with yourself and the world around you.

In the evening, the group will come together over dinner to share the day’s experiences and enjoy one another’s company.

2027 is a significant year to walk the Camino. It is a Jacobean Holy Year, which occurs when the Feast of St James (25 July) falls on a Sunday, and the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela opens its symbolic Holy Door, welcoming pilgrims arriving from around the world. With the next Holy Year in 2032, 2027 offers a meaningful opportunity to complete your pilgrimage.

Importantly, starting in Sarria and walking the final 115 kilometres to Santiago de Compostela qualifies you for the Compostela certificate on arrival in the Holy City.

Make your own way to the first hotel in Sarria. Sarria is located on a hilltop with a river on either side affording you great views of the region. In the early evening you will meet with your Escort, yoga guru Nell for a tour briefing, followed by dinner with the group and an evening meditation session.

Meals:  D

This morning before we take the time to visit the Church of the convent of La Magdalena, Nell will lead the group through the first yoga session. As you then start your first day walking over the “Meseta lucense”, the Lugo Plateau, we will pass through many hamlets dotted along areas of cultivated land, grazing pastures and woodlands, and view the first “horreos”, typical raised grain silos. The walk today is relatively easy until the descent to cross the River Miño, where ruins of the ancient flooded village can be seen, and into the town of Portomarin and our accommodation. Dinner & evening meditation included. Distance: 23km/14.3mi

Meals:  B,D

The route today takes us through forested areas which have a magnificent fragrance. Along the path we will pass charming hamlets and calvaries. We first ascend to Castromaior and the Sierra de Ligonde, continuing to Ventas de Narón. From here we transfer back to our accommodation in Portomarin. Distance: 13.5km/8.5mi

Meals:  B,D

This morning we transfer back to Ventas de Narón to continue our walk. The trail leads downhill through Eirexe to Ligonde, with its church dedicated to the apostle St James, and where Emperor Charles V stayed on 24 March 1520. Once in Palas de Rei, we can visit the Castle of Pambre, one of the best preserved fortresses in Spain and the best example of medieval military architecture in Galicia. We stay overnight in a charming hotel. Distance: 11km/6.8mi

Meals:  B,D

On our walk to Melide we will pass through the small towns of Coto and Leboreiro and discover small hamlets and rural architecture. Melide is one of the larger towns along the Galician section of the Camino. We recommend that for dinner tonight you try the local speciality ‘Pulpo a feira’, octopus usually served boiled and sprinkled with sweet and spicy paprika. Distance: 14km/9mi

Meals:  B,D

This stage continues through an agricultural landscape. The terrain becomes easier as we walk through the villages of Carballal, San Xuilan do Camino and Lebereiro and past Eucalyptus trees, with plenty of places to stop for lunch. We cross the River Seco on the Magdalena Bridge to reach Furelos and continue to Arzúa in the province of La Coruña. Distance: 17km/10.6mi

Meals:  B,D

Today’s walk brings us through several small villages and towns including Rua, which has a population of only 50 people. The walking is lovely, passing large green fields and rural landscapes. Overnight in O Pedrouzo. Distance: 19km/12mi

Meals:  B,D

On our last walk together we will pass many ancient sites including monuments, chapels and bridges – all of which have a story to tell. We follow country lanes and forest paths through increasingly populated countryside. The last day on the trail is always special, as we make our way to Santiago. There is plenty to see and do on arrival – or simply relax and celebrate the end of your journey. Distance: 20km/12.5mi

Meals:  B,D

Trip arrangements conclude after breakfast. If you’d like to stay an extra night in Santiago to further explore the historic and beautiful town at your own pace please ask for our rates. We also offer a day trip to Fisterra, which requires an extra night in Santiago - see below or ask our team for details.

About Your Leader

Nell Wengert is the owner of the award winning Soul Agenda Yoga & Pilates in Sydney and a yoga, meditation, breathwork, bodywork and mindfulness teacher.

Walking the Camino de Santiago was a deeply transformative experience for Nell. The journey had a profound impact on her life and ultimately influenced the path she took as a teacher. She believes there is a very special energy on the Camino — something about the ancient paths, the rhythm of walking, the simplicity of daily life and the people you meet along the way that creates a unique space for reflection and transformation.

For Nell, the Camino became much more than a walk. It was a journey of reconnecting with herself, trusting the path and discovering a deeper sense of purpose. Those experiences continue to influence the way she teaches today, bringing together movement, breath, meditation, presence and connection.

She is excited to return to the Camino in 2027 and to create a supportive and meaningful experience for the group along the way.

Grading

moderate

GRADE 3 - Daily walks are between 14 and 24km / 8.6 and 14.9mi on well marked trails over diverse terrain – from relatively flat to rolling hills. The accent is on keeping a steady pace to take in all of the attractions, with time to stop and take photos. You will need a good level of fitness to participate fully in this adventure.
