Day 3
Continue via Predjama Castle to Postojna (43km/27mi)
Today’s ride takes you away from the main tourist routes and into the quieter landscapes of rural Slovenia, following scenic backroads through forests, limestone terrain and small villages. Along the way, you may wish to take a short detour to the dramatic Predjama Castle, one of the country’s most remarkable landmarks, built directly into a cave mouth halfway up a 123m / 404ft cliff face. The castle is closely tied to the legend of the rebellious knight Erasmus of Predjama, who is said to have withstood a lengthy siege by secretly accessing supplies through the hidden cave network behind the fortress. According to local folklore, he even taunted his enemies by tossing fresh cherries down from the castle walls. Day 5
Cycle to the Lipica Stud farm and on to nearby Divaca (50km/31mi)

The included touring bike is a lightweight Trek hybrid bike designed for comfort and reliability on mixed terrain. Bikes are equipped with a rear rack, mudguards, bell and flat pedals, with clip-in pedals available on request. Suitable for riders approximately 150–195cm / 4ft 11in–6ft 5in tall. Each pair of bikes is also supplied with a repair kit including a spare inner tube, pump, tyre levers, Allen keys, patches and glue, along with a combination lock.
An electric bike is available on request. A supplement applies, see below. Electric bikes, or e-bikes, are designed to make cycling easier. The pedaling ‘boost’ provided by an e-bike opens up more options, allowing people of different fitness levels to cycle together or to allow less confident or fit cyclists to take on routes they may otherwise consider too tough for their current capabilities. Suitable for riders approx. 155–195 cm'/ 5ft 1in–6ft 5in
A gravel bike is available on request. A supplement applies, see below. The gravel bike option is lightweight designed for riders seeking a faster and more performance-oriented ride on mixed terrain. It features a lightweight aluminium frame, carbon fork, Shimano GRX 20-speed gravel-specific gearing and hydraulic disc brakes for confident handling on both paved and gravel roads. Fitted with 700×45C tyres for added comfort and stability, the bike also includes a rear rack and flat pedals, with clip-in pedals available on request. Suitable for riders approximately 160–200cm / 5ft 3in–6ft 7in tall.
GRADE 2 - Daily cycles are between 32 and 50km/20 or 31.5mi over undulating terrain. The majority of the route is on quiet country roads, while 15% is on dedicated cycleways and 5% on main roads when approaching or leaving a city. 5% of the route is on unpaved surfaces. The total length of the cycle is 240km / 150mi with ascents between 150 and 760 metres (500 - 2500ft). The accent is on keeping a relaxed pace to take in all of the attractions, with time to stop and take photos. You will need a reasonable level of fitness to participate fully in this adventure. To prepare for your ride, we recommend cycling in light traffic in the lead up to your trip with some hills. An E bike or gravel bike can be requested (supplement applies). If you are using an E-bike it can make the trip easier on the legs, although pedalling is still required. Also you need to be a competent cyclist to ride an E bike as they are heavier and faster than regular bikes.
