Traveller Tale: Walking the Amalfi Coast

Sherry and her partner answered some interview questions about her recent walking holiday to the Amalfi Coast in Italy. She went on the Amalfi Explorer, a blissful 7-day self-guided tour that takes you to all the Amalfi highlights, including Naples, Sorrento, Positano and the Island of Capri.

Why did you choose to walk the Amalfi Coast?

We love to hike and explore on foot. The self guided tour through UTracks, provides detailed trip notes, personal transfers, quaint, beautiful accommodations, as well as breakfasts and three delicious dinner meals.

How did you prepare for your walking holiday?

We hike daily, always on routes that have hilly portions.

What was the best part of the Amalfi Explorer trip?

Everything was excellent! The itinerary was perfect, a mix of challenging hikes and leisure time to explore at a slower pace.

What was your favourite town on the Amalfi Coast?

Sorrento as it’s a gorgeous seaside resort!

What was the scenery you walked through like? 

The Path of the Gods is breathtakingly beautiful. Expansive views of the Amalfi coast, hiking down rocky paths, through terraced vineyards, and historic stone dwellings.

What was the local Italian cuisine like?

The local cuisine was outstanding! My favorite dish was lemon risotto, but every pasta dish was delicious!

How challenging did you find the trail?

Path of the Gods is moderately challenging as the path/stairs that pass through Scala and onto Arabella.

What surprised you the most about your trip?

The gorgeous forests as you hike from Bomerano to Amalfi.

Can you share advice for other travellers thinking about doing your trip?

We walked about 8 miles (13km) every day to truly get a feel for the culture, cuisine, and friendly locals.

Our Amalfi coast trip was wonderful! UTracks takes care of every detail, arranging personal transport, selecting cozy and charming accommodations, and an engaging itinerary.
