This trip combined walking and sailing experiences along a small part of the south-west coast of Turkey. Well worthwhile! Southwest Turkey is very picturesque, and glimpses of its history are incredible. Food on board was excellent, with the staff very accommodating and helpful. It’s difficult to put into words what is so attracting about the Camino. Is it: Walking kilometres each day in sometimes challenging conditions? Staying in a variety of sometimes surprising accommodations? Meeting and interacting with a huge variety of Spanish people, as well as other peregrinos from across the globe with at least one thing in common? For everyone, it may be a little different. Certainly – it’s undeniably a physical and mental test of mettle and stamina. But I feel it’s the Camino’s ability to give you contrasting perspectives on all that is good in life as well as the ability and confidence to individually cope with its demands that is so compelling.
