Portugal: Self-Guided Holidays & Small Group Guided Walking & Cycling Adventures

Portugal varied landscapes provide unrivalled opportunities for memorable walking or cycling holidays. The lush landscape of Portugal's north is rich agricultural and viticultural country. The central and southern regions are less green, yet they support olive groves, vineyards, and citrus trees.  In spring they are a sight to behold when the almond blossoms are in full bloom.

The northern and central countryside of Portugal is characterised by rivers, valleys, forests and mountains, the highest range is the Serra da Estrela, peaking at Torre (1993m). The south is less populated and, apart from the rocky backdrop of the Algarve, much flatter and drier. Because of its Mediterranean climate, most of Portugal's rainfall occurs in the winter, the north receiving much more rain than the south.

Be it coast or mountains, an active holiday to Portugal will provide you with the best chance of an authentic holiday experience to Portugal. UTracks offers a selection of guided and self guided walking and cycling holidays in Portugal. Walk the delightful Douro Valley, cross the island of Madeira on foot, or discover the beaches of the Algarve by bike or on a self-guided walking holiday.
