Serbia: Guided Cycling Holidays and Small Group Guided Adventures

Serbia has always been at the crossroads of the East and West. It first found itself between the Byzantine and Roman empires before becoming a frontier between the Ottoman Empire and the Christian West. Its position has led to constant migrations and the mixing of populations resulting in a dynamic, multicultural society.

Serbia has long been a meeting place for diverse cultures, trading caravans and armies on the march to war. Territory had to be defended if tribes and peoples were to survive and the remains of the many fortifications along the Danube are testament to that period in the country’s history.

Along the Danube River’s 588 km course through Serbia, the river stretches from the Serbian, Hungarian and Croatian borders to its confluence with the Timok, where the borders of Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania meet. The Serbian section of the Danube passes through the picturesque Vojvodina flatlands and the national parks of the Fruška Gora and Đerdap.

Besides the river’s natural wealth, there are many sites of cultural and historical value spread out along its banks all which make for perfect exploration by bike.
